For some drivers, it's the classiness of the Audi that is the most appealing aspect of ownership. Yes, the power and capabilities really add to the experience, but to own a ride with the four-rings adorning the body brings a sense of pride to the owner. For Luke Rutya (AKA: Aye6), his 2000 A6 2.7T is exactly that - a sense of both pride and joy.

Not being a stranger to the automotive scene, specifically working on them, Luke went out looking for a ride that would not only be safe and comfortable to drive but have that sense of grace and styling that can't be faked through body kits and fancy paint jobs. Hunting around for such a car, the A6 stood out as the right vehicle to meet that criteria. After finding the perfect one in Chicago, he set to work building up his daily driver.

This 2000 A6 is not the fastest from the Audizine family, still running its stock K03 turbos mated to a manual transmission. Nor is it the most built, but everything that has been done to it has been planned out for the full picture. In the three years that the A6 has been in Lukes hands, the ride has gone from a common family car to a cleanly modified show car with a mixture of aftermarket and OEM+ upgrades all around. From the updated Magnaflow exhaust to the KW V2 coilovers and the black wrapped roof, the A6 makes its presence known both visually and audibly. The ride is also fitted with 4.2L door blades, updated headlamps, and tinted fogs and side markers.

While this is not a large list of modifications compared to other AZ'ers rides, it is the combination of such that has brought this A6 together into an eye catching ride. The biggest standout, the Miro 111 18" by 8.5" wheels, bring the lowered A6 a completed look, no matter if it's rolling or standing still. Sometimes that is all it takes; the right wheels to complete the look, to plant the ride firmly to the ground, and in the memory of anyone that sees it. The A6 just has that great overall look and feel.

Aside from the occasional random noises that pop up from the ride (which many of us know quite well), his years of ownership have been enjoyable. With most of the work being meticulously completed in his own garage, the ride should continue being a pleasure for many years to come. Having been working on cars for ten or so years, the ride is in good hands to continue gracing the streets of Chicago for quite some time...perhaps with even more power very soon!

For Luke, the end result of owning his A6 has been more than the styling and pride that comes from the car itself, but the huge sense of community that has come from his involvement in the Audi enthusiast scene. From the local car meets to all of his fellow members of the C5 forum, Luke truly feels to be part of a community that not only knows his ride, but respects it for what he's personally done to it and sees the potential of what it will become.

Q (Audizine): How long have you owned this vehicle?
A (Luke): I've owned the A6 for about two and a half years. Bought it around January of 2010.

Q: How has your ownership been with it overall?
A: It has been great so far. There have been times I thought that I might have a big problem to deal with, but it turned out to be a sensor or a loose bolt.

Q: Where did you find the car, and how was the buying experience?
A: I found the car on Autotrader, which led me to a used car dealership in Chicago. The buying experience was fine, but the lot was all dirt. The car had a little dent in the side and the salesman told me that he has a guy that can fix it and match the paint "pretty close," which made me laugh since pretty close just doesn't cut it.

Q: Think you'll be getting another one anytime soon?
A: For now I'm going to be running the A6 into the ground. In the future I might pick up another Audi, but who knows what else might catch my eye.

Q: Is this your first Audi? If not, what other models and years have you owned?
A: Yup this is my first Audi.

Q: How long have you been into Audis and in the European tuning scene?
A: For about three years.

Q: How long have you been into cars in general, as an enthusiast?
A: Probably for around 10 years, ever since I started working on cars.

Q: Where do you think that passion and enthusiasm comes from, can it be traced back to anyone or anything?
A: Definitely from my dad. He worked on cars and motorcycles all of his life and taught me from a young age.

Q: What do you most love about the car?
A: The manual transmission and the exhaust note.

Q: What's your biggest peeve in regards to the car, the one thing you dislike the most?
A: The irregular noises coming from anywhere within the car.

Q: When did the modding bug bite?
A: Even before I bought any cars. I always looked into how I can mod it and what subtle changes I can do to make it unique.

Q: Can you explain your modding style? Do you prefer more go, more show, perhaps a combo of both?
A: As of right now it's been mostly "show" due to funds. Once I graduate and have a full time job I'll be working on the "go" aspect.

Q: Do you prefer to do the work yourself, or do you have a shop or specific person perform the work?
A: I do most of the work myself in order to get to know the ins and outs of the car, but if it's something very technical, I'll have a shop do it.

Q: What was your first modification to the car?
A: The spoiler and interior overhead and ground LED lights.

Q: Which was your last, most recent mod?
A: The headlights.

Q: Which mod are you the most proud of or happy with?
A: The headlights, mostly because of the awesome light output at night.

Q: Describe your fondest memory of owning, modifying, or driving this vehicle.
A: Driving to meets and cruising with the community. Cops kicking everyone out of three different parking lots during a nighttime meet, and then kicking us out of a gas station when there was no where else to go. This meet had close to 75 cars of all types, and seeing the gas station flood with tons of modded cars was hilarious.

Q: So now imagine for a minute if money were no object. What's your dream car, or cars?
A: If a day comes where money is no object, Ill look at top gears fastest car around the test track and buy it. If that day were today, I'd skip the Atom and go for the McLaren.

Q: What do your friends and family think about your passion for Audis?
A: The friends that have their own passion for cars completely understand my love for Audis, and understand why I ask them not to make a mess in the car or not to lean on the paint. Those other friends, however, find it annoying that I always want everything kept clean and the car's paint without scratches or swirl marks.

Q: How does your love for cars and Audis affect your life, does it play a pretty big part?
A: Cars play a big part in my life, especially when I was younger and first started learning about cars. Those lessons were the basis to my understanding of cars and how mechanics work in general.

Q: What brought you to Audizine, and how long have you been with us?
A: I've been at Audizine since I've owned my car, so about two and a half years. As soon as I bought the car I started searching for a forum and stumbled upon Audizine.

Q: When you're not on Audizine, out playing with the Audi, working, or going to school, do have any free time to spend on other sports or hobbies?
A: Photography, videography, learning new skills, going out drinking, snowboarding, jetskiing, and sports...

Q: Have an interesting day job? Care to talk a little bit about it?
A: I've been a host at a restaurant in a retirement home for five years now. I'm also an assistant to a Graphic Arts Director at a private mid-sized company, and I've recently started doing accounting work for them as part of an internship.

Q: Any word of advice for your fellow enthusiasts, a bit of wisdom you'd like to impart on the masses?
A: Don't buy something because the stock photo looks cool. Find a "street" shot of it first.

Q: And lastly do you have anyone you'd like to thank, any shout-outs?
A: The Audizine community, especially everyone over at the C5 forum for helping out with problems and giving advice on mods. Even the members that have never interacted with me, I might have read your posts and taken your advice. It's all a part of what makes this a great forum, so thanks!
